LiUNA Local 499 represents a diverse group of over 1,500 active and retired hard working men and women in the construction, energy, and industrial sectors. United through collective bargaining agreements that ensure family-supporting pay, good benefits, safety on the job, and the opportunity for advancement, we build our country's infrastructure and maintain many of our communities critical systems.

LiUNA Local 499’s geographical jurisdiction includes Clinton, Eaton, Ingham, Jackson, Washtenaw, Hillsdale, Lenawee, and Monroe counties, with a portion of Livingston County. We are an affiliate of LiUNA and the Michigan Laborers District Council.

What types of work can a Laborer do?

LiUNA members build infrastructure - from roads, bridges, water and sewer systems, and skyscrapers. Members also work in every area of the energy sector, helping to build solar plants, wind farms, natural gas and oil pipelines, and perform maintenance on nuclear and coal power plants. Additionally, LiUNA members handle environmental clean up, asbestos remediation, and demolition work.

LiUNA also represents public employees in health care, sanitation, road maintenance and emergency response. The National Postal Mail Handlers Union, which represents Mail Handlers employed by the United States Postal Service, is also affiliated with LiUNA.
